Every year, we get prospects who slide further than they should. Let’s go over who the top five value picks of the Draft are.
Will Johnson, CB, Michigan (Picked 47th overall by Arizona)
-Johnson was pretty much a consensus first round pick and was constantly mocked in the top 15 of mock drafts. He’s a prospect that more than likely dealt with prospect fatigue throughout the process. I wasn’t as high on Johnson as the masses, but nevertheless, as a prospect, the Arizona Cardinals got tremendous value here. I expect Johnson to be a Day 1 starter and an above-average corner.
Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall (Picked 59th overall by Baltimore)
-The Ravens never overthink the draft, they let the players fall to them and almost always get value on their picks. While Green has had off-the-field issues, which is the reason for his fall in this year’s draft, he’s a first round talent. If he can stay on the field, the Ravens get a starter and one of the best defensive players in the 2025 class.
Marcus Mbow, OG/OT, Purdue (Picked 154th by the New York Giants)
-New York had a productive draft this year. They not only got value on most of their picks, they got good players at positions of need. I was fully expecting Mbow to go somewhere in the 3rd round. Instead, he fell to the Giants in the 5th. Mbow has a chance to be a starter pretty early on due to his versatility along the line and his raw tools.
Ahmed Hassanein, EDGE, Boise State (Picked 196th by Detroit)
-Will Hassanein be an instant contributor? The odds are stacked against him considering he got drafted by Detroit, but this pick could pay off long-term for the Lions. Hassanein was a productive player at Boise State and he has natural pass-rushing ability that should translate at the next level. Oh, and playing with Aidan Hutchinson should help too.
LeQuint Allen, RB, Syracuse (Picked 236th by Jacksonville)
It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if LeQuint Allen were to take over the starting RB role for the Jaguars by the end of the 2025 season. At 6”0, 201 lbs, Allen has the ideal size and athleticism to be a starting RB in the NFL and the talent outperform Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby.
